Blackbird
Blackbird singing in the dead of night
We've lost the strength and will to fight
Taking in these horrid cries
Turning our backs to those who die
They slash us down, onto our backs
Knowing we've not the courage for attack
Bombs explode and sirens scream
We hope to God this is a dream
Then maybe we could find ourselves
Perhaps to read a book upon our shelves
To hide our treasures from prying eyes
Fearing those who we despise
Heaping us together in this Ghetto
We horde what we can, saving it from our foes
To live is to die, to die while you live
Clinging to the warmth others can give
Fighting through this stinking mud
covered in filth; is it dirt or blood?
Bombs explode and sirens scream
We realise it might not be a dream
We know now we might not wake
We know it is real, what they take
Blackbird flying high above
Watching with distain while we fight and shove
It soars away, unseen, unheard
Below it the night has begun to burn

- Description: wrote it last year for a project for the book Night a touching book about a Holocaust survivor tale of the events that lead him through the ordeal.I wrote from the heart about the truama of the Holocuast taking my inspiration from the book and putting into words how I think the victims felt based on what I read.please do not take this and pass it off for your own,I worked hard on this and see it as a tribute to those who lost far too much to the greed and ambision of others
