Beating against her chest, her heart craves his company,
At least the thought of knowing he’s nearby.
She was raised to show no affection but oh the irony,
For this heart there’s more demand than supply.
Settle down little girl, you’re too much to handle,
He needs to catch his breath for a while.
A smoking break follows, apart from her scandal,
As the only thing she can do is fake a smile.
He steps well away, walking far without stopping,
Leaving her behind to catch a scent.
“The smoke is what kills you;” the ashes are dropping,
But what’s killing her is not knowing where he went.
Her knees become weak at the thought of holding his hand,
She reaches for it but it’s holding his prize.
Stepping back, her mind quickly starts to understand,
As he walks up ahead, her anticipation slowly dies.
Craving for a kiss, she starts to catch up to his speed,
Not knowing his lips were already occupied.
He turns around swiftly, her soul savoring a need,
But between his lips, a poison takes its rightful place to reside.
Young and naïve, she lingers behind,
With the remnants of a smoke-kissed wind.
To strangers who see, their vision is blind,
They’re in love, yet the appearance has thinned.
She’ll wait till he’s done, until he has had his fill,
She knows she must give him some space.
Yet girls are selfish, and they seek a romantic trill,
But she’ll never tell her desires to his face.
