“Shroomkitty…I can explain, or at least try to…” I started. Not a very good start since her response was her fist landing a blow to my already broken ribs. gonk “Ow….” I groaned going to my knees. She was fast… she always was. “Kitty, please I-“
scream “On your feet!” She shouted. Though the movement pained me, I stood and found her fist connecting with my stomach this time. I staggered, but did not fall.
gonk “Kitty, I-“
scream “Don’t you dare say another word, James Morrison Karakal! You think I’d be forgiving after you abandoned me three years ago!?”
gonk “I what?”
scream “Don’t play dumb with me!”
gonk “I have no idea what you’re talking about.”
scream “You left three years ago. You just up and vanished. Figured that you were all high and mighty to just leave those who helped you for all those years?”
mad “I would never do such a thing.”
stressed “Well you did. Now face it, Karakal, you have nobody now, like I had nobody then.” She growled. She was hurt, deeply, that much was clear.
“Then why did you save me?” I softly asked.
scream “So I could beat the glitter out of you myself.” She hissed, her lightning fist landing a blow to my cheek. That blow both knocked my hat and glasses off. I didn’t come up, I just hung my head where it landed, waiting for the next angry blow. It never came. I slowly looked up at her, to see if she was going to hit me again. I watched her fist fall to her side. “Where’s your mark?” Was all she asked.
I picked up my hat and glasses and painfully stood up again. “I don’t know. I don’t remember anything that happened three years ago, or anything before that. I just remember Sevilen being locked away in a dungeon and that you were the one person I could count on. I don’t remember anything.” I could see her fighting the reasoning in her head. “Please believe me, Kitty. You’re the only one who can help me make sense of what happened.”
“You really don’t remember?” She asked.
“I told you what I remembered. The only thing I can continue to ask is what happened and if you will forgive me for whatever wrong befell you in my absence.”
She let out a huff and shook her head. “I will not forgive you, but I really want to know what happened to you and why you don’t have your mark.”
“So you will help me?” I asked hopeful.
mad “No, I’ll take you to Julius. He will help you.” She snapped. It was clear I was not going to be forgiven any time soon. I held out my hand at the branch I left Emi. She climbed on and I placed her on my shoulder.
“She seems friendly.” She said.
“Emi, that’s Shroomkitty, Kitty, this is Emilia Jenxy.” I introduced them.
4laugh “Oh well isn’t she adorable.” Kitty happily said.
stressed “Can it, lady.” Emi replied.
4laugh “Awww, she’s even cute when she’s angry.”
“Um…” I interrupted, “Julius?”
mad “Yeah, yeah, keep your hat on.” Kitty barked getting her knife out of the tree. “Let’s go.”
