A time ago, we reported that a young woman condemned stated a last request, asking for the well-being of an ex-lover. There was much debate as to whether or not this act of goodness, while quite enough to save her from any sentencing at all if it had been stated before her death, was enough to get her off being stated after her sentencing.
After calling her back several times, it was established that, due to her premature death, she was unable to realize that she wished this for her friend and her ex. The United Conference has therefore concluded that she will be let off as of now, stating that the time she spent in the Hells during this decision-making was more than enough, when paired with this surprising demonstration of love.
“This is something that has never happened before and that we hope never happens again. If this becomes a new standard we may have to change many policies that have stood unwaveringly for ages, without the slightest mishap,” says Girathin, one of the senior members of the High Court of The Between.
“We are already over-burdened as it is and it would just add extra work, which we would have to learn blindly how to cope with,” adds Kilsanni, a member of the High Court of The Hells.
Lucifer, who attended in person, so to speak, was more than pleased with the outcome of the decision, although he, too, realizes the dangers of a recurrence. He released this statement:
“We fear that if this becomes a frequent occurrence we may begin to make mistakes, and that would be devastating for the Universes as a whole. But I believe in this case the Conference was fully justified and made the right decision. It’s what I would have decided had I been left to.”
The Counsel also stated that the girl’s request has been seen to, with the utmost delicacy.
NOTE: Lucifer did NOT sit on the counsel, although he did attend the Conference. This is to prevent any kind of unfairness in the odds between the Divinity and the Darkness.
