• The vermilion sunset bewitches you
blind to my silhouette, wanning slow,
    disappearing into the dark below
    a rhinestone studded sky.

The desperate whispers of my heart
are drowned out by the ester-drenched air
sung by a sylph. All the while, a despair,
    so deep strangles me.

I see them sway on gold-dusted dance
floors from behind a corroded looking glass,
sole witness to the thoughts that harass
    me into midnight soliloquies and

I need this carousel of black doves
and drunken cupids to stop, stop, stop
because I'm about to drop, drop, drop...
on to the rotten planks beneath.

So feed me apples dipped in cyanide,
fragment me into a fraction of nothing
    because your indifference
    is toxic.
