After last week's amazing reveal of Isshin Kurosaki joining the fray, this week Kubo gives us 'Back From Blind', in which Isshin and Ichigo have a father-son moment that lasts a number of pages, Isshin reveals that he can kick a man's a** HARDCORE by just flicking him off, Aizen gets papa-punched through like 4 buildings, and Gin rejoins the battle to faceoff against Ichigo.
First off, Ichigo is a shinigami and a--er--wait, HUMAN and a...
....
Oh Kubo you forgetful thing, you.
Isshin's final face-to-face with Ichigo reveals that not only does he know how to think on his feet as he got Ichigo further back from Aizen and opened up a gap between them, but that he is noticing change in his son, especially after Ichigo quotes Rukia ((IchiRuki, anyone? )) in telling him that "I have nothing to ask. If you didn't tell me up until now, you probably had a reason, and that's your problem. I don't know how to ask about that. I don't know a good way to ask without trampling over, and putting to shame, your feelings. That's why I'll wait, until you feel like you want to tell me, until you feel like it's alright to tell me. Until then, you don't need to." They have a rather touching family moment after that, in which Isshin says Ichigo's "learned to speak rather competently" and Ichigo thanks him for punching/headbutting him saying it "Brought him back." What that could mean is up in the air--but I'm thinking it has something to do with Aizen's shock tactics, and Isshin helping clear Ichigo's mind again. They're set to do battle again--together now--but oho! it seems a new challenger has approached--GIN ICHIMARU, who is back from his spot 'sightseeing' as Aizen put it.
Gin's arrival is an interesting one; he tells Aizen initially that he just didn't see an opening in which he NEEDED to help out which is interesting. Gin is about to respond about why he's said this, but Ichigo engages him in battle and he's cut off. ((this series seems to be full of interjections, hm? ))
Ichigo and Gin face off while Isshin handles Aizen for the time being at least, and it looks like Aizen's got quite a problem on his hands in Isshin, who seems to have a hell of a lot more power than initially given credit for. Hmmmmm.
The chapter ends with Ichigo readying to fight Gin, and Gin saying he won't hold back--just before he unleashes his bankai, and the chapter closes.
GAAAH CLIFFHANGER!
Discussion topics:
- Ichigo/Gin fight--something tells me we're about to be down one foxfaced character in this series.
- Isshin facing Aizen--I'm a bit surprised by Isshin's power, actually; and I'm wondering how well he'll fare against him as compared to Yamamoto. It looks like, even though it was just a small demonstration, but it looks like while Yamamoto was more keen on using pure strength and power to bring Aizen down, Isshin will rely more on strategizing and positioning for his fight. We'll see, won't we?
- Next chapter: I...I'm actually wanting to finish this fight between Gin and Ichigo before heading back to HM. o_o; I mean, I'll be happy as all hell if we switch, but...
- Isshin's general badassery--THE MAN FLICKED AIZEN OFF THROUGH LIKE 4 BUILDINGS.
- Ichigo/Isshin's father-son moment; Ichigo quoting Rukia. HMMMMMMM...
